PCOS ON THE RISE
PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is defined as a condition, wherein the levels of estrogen and progesterone hormones in women are imbalanced. This imbalance leads to the growth of cysts on the ovaries.
This condition has become very common in women today and many are unaware that they even have this problem, unless they have a delayed period or have difficulties in getting pregnant. Although there has been a lot of research on why PCOS occurs, it has been difficult to identify the main reason for this condition. Most women suffer with PCOS due to Obesity, Hormonal Imbalance or due to certain genetic factors. Of late PCOS is known to have affected woman of varied age groups, right from puberty to middle-aged women.
Excessive weight gain, Hair Loss, Acne, Pelvic Pain, Infertility and Emotional imbalance or anxiety are known to be some of the common symptoms to identify this condition.
